Maryland Online Appeal Request
|
|
Welcome to the Comptroller's Online Appeal Request system. As a taxpayer, you have the right to file an appeal if you receive one of the following:
- A notice of assessment for a tax, fee, interest or penalty charge; or
- A notice denying your refund.
If you have questions about a notice from the Comptroller's Office, please call the phone number on the notice. A representative will help you resolve the issue.
If you still dispute the tax assessment or refund denial, you should file an appeal within 30 days of the date on the notice. The first step in the appeal process is to determine whether your appeal is timely and can be resolved without a hearing. If your appeal is timely and cannot be resolved with the documents provided by you, a hearing will be scheduled. If your appeal is filed beyond 30 days, you will be contacted by an attorney to submit a response as to why the assessment is incorrect.
