2020 Tax Filing Season RELIEF Act
To relieve some of the adverse economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic, Governor Lawrence J. Hogan signed
Senate Bill 496, Recovery for the Economy, Livelihoods,
Industries, Entrepreneurs, and Families Act, referred to as the RELIEF Act. This new law impacts some taxpayers:
The revised 2020 individual income tax forms accommodate all individual filers, including those impacted by provisions of the RELIEF Act.
Filing and Payment Due Date Extended to July 15, 2021
On March 11, 2021, Comptroller Peter Franchot extended the due date for 2020 individual income tax returns and payments to July 15, 2021
to allow taxpayers adequate time to file using the revised forms.
Note to Individuals Scheduling Tax Payments by Direct Debit
Additional updates are being made to allow individuals to schedule direct debits for payment of their 2020 individual income taxes,
as well as 1st and 2nd quarter estimated income tax payments for tax year 2021.
Taxpayers may return to this site after April 23, 2021 to schedule those payments for debit dates through July 15, 2021.
